Archives & Records provides access to all closed court cases and is responsible for the storage of closed court cases as follows:

  • District Court
  • Circuit Criminal
  • Family Court

Also available from Archives & Records on micrographic media:

  • Circuit Civil cases from 1700s to 1982
  • Circuit Criminal cases from 1953–1985
  • All judges’ dockets

 

For copies of court records:

  • For copies of decrees, dispositions, judgements and other court records, please submit your request by email to  JeffersonOCCCrecords.archives@kycourts.net (click HERE) or mail it to the division’s Old Jail Building address. Be sure to include the names of all parties, dates of birth, approximate timeframe of the case, any additional information as available, and your contact information. mailto: JeffersonOCCCrecords.archives@kycourts.net

To verify court records:

  • To verify court records, please submit your request to JeffersonOCCCrecords.archives@kycourts.net (click HERE).
  • Be sure to include the name of the party, date of birth, case number, charges and your contact information.

 

For records maintained by the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives (KDLA) and State Records Center:

  • Cases not stored locally are sent to the KDLA or the State Records Center for storage, but they can be returned to Jefferson County through a request submitted by our Archives & Records Division.

Fees for copies of court records: 

  • In person – $.25 per page
  • Received via U.S. Postal Service – $10 charge through this division for up to 18 pages

Requests submitted by state governmental agencies are not charged a fee.

Fee for certification of court records:

  • Per certified copy – $5.00 (if sent by mail, the certification fee for one copy is included in the mailing cost)

Forms of Payment:

  • Cash
  • Credit card (3rd party transaction fee applied: $5 in person, 3% of total if a remote payment)
  • Debit card (3rd party transaction fee applied: $2.25 in person, 3% of total if a remote payment)
  • Cashier/certified checks (personal checks are not accepted)
  • Money orders

All checks and money orders are to be made payable to: Office of the Circuit Court Clerk
